Therapeutic laser is increasingly being used in the management of lymphoedema and musculoskeletal dysfunction. Practitioners need to keep abreast of the latest research and clinical applications. The 2020 Therapeutic Laser Course Series aims to provide:

No prior lymphedema certification is required.

This course is offered to all Medical Practitioners, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Podiatrists, Accredited Exercise Physiologists, Massage Therapists, Physiotherapy Assistants, Occupational Therapist Assistants, Nursing students and students undertaking health professional qualifications.

Note: It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that the skills acquired in this class are within their scope of practice.

At the end of the course the participant will be able to:

  • Describe basic laser physics.
  • Describe the physiological changes that laser can produce.
  • Suggest the safety issues of using therapeutic laser.
  • List the contraindications and precautions for therapeutic laser use
  • Identify the potential adverse effects.
  • Carry out dosage calculations.
  • Identify factors that affect dosage choice.
  • Describe the applications of several different laser units currently used clinically.

This is a self-paced online course. The course is delivered via short videos to engage the learner as well as scaffolded by the evidence based research. It is delivered via the Lymphoedema Education Solutions on line Learning Management System and includes a short quiz that needs to be successfully completed.

The participant will have 90 days access to this online learning unit.

Upon completion of the course, the participant will receive a Certificate of Completion verifying course hours. This course offers 5 contact hours of continuing education.

The following agreement is made between the participant registering for the course (as named in their registration form) and Lymphoedema Education Solutions (LES).

Scope of Practice

The participant acknowledges and understands that the course is designed for practitioners with suitable existing health professional qualifications.  The course description identifies which types of health professional qualifications are required. The participant agrees that they are suitably qualified in accordance with the course prerequisites and holds a current registration.

Payment and Refund Policy 

Upon registration, the participant will receive an email to confirm the details of their registration. Within 48 hours of registration and receipt of full payment, the participant will receive a tax invoice via email and the course will be added to the participant’s dashboard.

If the participant cancels prior to the tax invoice being sent, the participant will be refunded the tuition electronically within 10 business days, minus a non-refundable administrative charge of $50.00AUD. No refunds will be given after participant has been provided access to the course.

LES will use their best efforts to protect the participant personal information from unauthorised access.  LES may use the participant personal information to contact them from time to time about products and services LES think the participant may be interested in.  Part of the course involves communicating via email with other course participants and for this reason the participant agree that their email address may be shared with other course participants.  LES may give the participant details to course sponsors and exhibitors unless the participant ask LES not to. The participant should ask LES if they have any queries about providing their personal information.
