This course is an advanced level class. Participants should have successfully completed a level 1 or equivalent lymphoedema course that is recognised by the Australasian Lymphology Association.

Participants can be physiotherapists, occupational therapists, medical practitioners, registered nurses ( Division 1), or massage therapists with Diploma of Remedial Massage (this is a minimum requirement) from a Registered Training Organisation listed with the National Training Information Service and may include qualifications that specify a primary modality such as ‘Diploma of Remedial Massage (Myotherapy).

Note: It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that the skills acquired in this class are within their scope of practice.

Please note participants that want to register in course 2 must have completed course 1 first.

At the end of the course the participant will be able to:

  • Discuss the current research relating to PBM and lymphoedema management
  • Apply treatment protocols for the use of therapeutic laser with:
    • Upper limb and breast lymphoedema
    • Lower limb lymphoedema
    • Breast oedema
    • Head and neck lymphoedema
    • Axillary web syndrome
  • Carry out dosage calculations for lymphoedema and axillary web syndrome case studies
  • Troubleshoot PBM treatment progression

This is a self-paced online course. The course is delivered via short videos to engage the learner as well as scaffolded by the evidence based research. It is delivered via the Lymphoedema Education Solutions on line Learning Management System and includes a short quiz that needs to be successfully completed.

The participant will have 90 days access to this online learning unit.

Upon completion of the course, the participant will receive a Certificate of Completion verifying course hours. This course offers 5 contact hours of continuing education.

The following agreement is made between the participant registering for the course (as named in their registration form) and Lymphoedema Education Solutions (LES).

Scope of Practice

The participant acknowledges and understands that the course is designed for practitioners with suitable existing health professional qualifications.  The course description identifies which types of health professional qualifications are required. The participant agrees that they are suitably qualified in accordance with the course prerequisites and holds a current registration.
